Job description

The Building and Codes Enforcement Officer performs a wide variety of duties involved in plan review, building inspections and in the investigation of potential violations and the enforcement of municipal codes, ordinances, regulations, and the building and zoning codes. As the City Building Inspector, this position performs responsible inspection of residential structures requiring technical skills and knowledge related to the interpretation of the uniform residential codes and conducts regular plan reviews of all residential construction in the City. As the Codes Enforcement Official for the City, this position performs office and field work involving the inspection, investigation, and enforcement of applicable codes and ordinances pertaining to nuisances and related quality of life and public safety issues.

In addition, this position communicates and interprets codes and policies to the public, contractors, architects and engineers with the goal of avoiding or resolving any violations of the City’s codes and regulations.
