What You Will Do

As a Trading Intern, you will be assigned to work in a core area supporting the trading business including analytics, risk and compliance. You will work with the trading team to accomplish several projects that provide meaningful examples of trading work. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute in a variety of areas supporting commodities spanning Crude, Products, Natural Gas & Power, and Freight. All projects are directly related to business needs and will include research as well as development of trading opportunities.

Beyond your project work, you'll have the chance to tour facilities, learn from senior leaders, and connect with experienced professionals across the organization. We also host social events that give you the chance to build relationships with your cohort, recent graduates, and leaders across ExxonMobil.

Program Duration:

Summer Internships: ~ 3 months
Co-ops: ~ 4 months
 

High-performing interns are prioritized for return internships and, upon graduation, full-time roles in one of the following tracks: Trading Analytics, Trading Data, Analytics and AI, or Trader Development Program.

About You

We set the bar high and know you do, too. We seek students who are passionate about what they do and are eager to learn more about career paths within our global trading organization in the energy sector. 

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Have strong academic performance in any discipline. Degrees in economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, physics, data science, supply chain, and engineering are all relevant
  • For those interested in Trading Data, Analytics, and AI, be proficient in a programming language such as Python, C#, or SQL and have working knowledge of developer processes and tools such as version control and CI/CD
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrate analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
  • Show an interest in physical commodities and financial markets
  • Be able to communicate, collaborate, and work effectively in an international team environment
  • Demonstrate leadership capability
     

Relevant work experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.
