Job description

Modernize Processes. Strengthen Controls. Support Growth.
This is not a routine accounting position. We are looking for an Assistant Controller who wants to step into a visible, high-impact role where strong accounting leadership, process improvement, technology, and operational discipline will help support the continued growth of the business.
This role is for someone who understands that Accounting can be more than a department that reports what already happened. Done well, Accounting becomes a trusted business partner - creating accuracy, structure, efficiency, accountability, and confidence across the organization.
We are also looking for someone who is excited about where accounting is going. This includes embracing systems, automation, AI, and better use of technology to reduce repetitive work, improve efficiency, strengthen reporting, and allow the team to focus on higher-value work.
We are looking for the person who can help make that happen!
The Opportunity
This opportunity is ideal for someone who wants to help strengthen and modernize an accounting function inside a growing company.
You will work closely with the Controller and senior leadership to improve accounting operations, support a faster and more reliable close process, strengthen controls, and help create the structure needed as the business continues to evolve.
This is a hands-on accounting role with real influence. The right person will be able to bring ideas, improve how work gets done, help guide the team, and create better processes that support the business at a higher level.
You will not be asked to figure everything out alone. You will be working with strong leaders who bring a valuable mix of industry knowledge, outside experience, guidance, and support - while still giving you the autonomy to take ownership and make an impact.
Why This Role Stands Out
This position offers the opportunity to help shape what a strong, modern accounting organization looks like.
VP Supply as a company is large enough to invest in systems, training, technology, and career development, but still small enough that your work will be visible and meaningful.
Our company is growing, evolving, and looking for someone who can help bring structure, discipline, efficiency, and leadership to the accounting function.
For the right person, this is a chance to build something meaningful and position yourself for long-term career growth.
What You'll Be Responsible For
In this role, you will help lead and strengthen core accounting operations, including:
  • Month-end and year-end close
  • General ledger accuracy and reporting
  • Reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, AP, AR, and cost-related accounting
  • Financial statement preparation and management reporting
  • Internal controls, procedures, and accounting best practices
  • Audit preparation and support
  • Tax and compliance support
  • Process improvement, workflow efficiency, and systems enhancements
  • Use of technology, automation, and AI to improve accuracy, speed, and efficiency
  • Training, guiding, and supporting accounting team members
  • Partnering across the business to improve accuracy, visibility, and accountability

Requirements
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is driven, organized, efficient, collaborative, and confident taking ownership.
The ideal candidate is:
  • A strong accounting professional who understands what good structure looks like
  • A process-minded leader who can improve how work gets done
  • Comfortable using technology, systems, automation, and AI to create efficiency
  • A problem solver who brings urgency, accuracy, and sound judgment
  • Comfortable guiding people and helping set expectations
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and focused on continuous improvement
  • Strong in GAAP, accounting operations, reporting, and controls
  • Able to communicate clearly with accounting, finance, operations, and leadership
  • Excited by the opportunity to help shape an accounting function during a period of growth

Preferred Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Public accounting experience
  • CPA or CMA
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Experience with financial reporting, audits, general ledger accounting, and internal controls
  • Distribution or manufacturing experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with systems, process improvement, automation, or accounting technology

The Opportunity Ahead
This is a role for someone who wants impact!
If you are ready to bring accounting experience, modernize processes, embrace technology, strengthen controls, guide a team, and help support the next stage of growth for a strong business, this could be a career-changing opportunity.
