Location: West Kauai Clubhouse
Position Type: Full-Time | Exempt

Position Overview

The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the delivery, quality, and continuous improvement of youth development programs and services. This includes staff leadership, program implementation, behavior management systems, member engagement, operational oversight, and relationship-building with families, schools, and community partners.

In the absence of the Clubhouse Director, the Program Director assumes responsibility for Clubhouse operations.


Key Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily youth development programming and operations
  • Supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate program staff and volunteers
  • Foster a positive Club culture that promotes safety, accountability, inclusion, and engagement
  • Ensure programs align with BGCH mission, standards, and youth development outcomes
  • Build strong relationships with families, schools, and community organizations
  • Monitor program participation, quality, and member engagement
  • Support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and performance management of staff
  • Assist in budget oversight, resource management, and grant-related program requirements
  • Ensure accurate reporting, member tracking, and operational compliance
  • Support organizational initiatives, events, and community outreach efforts
  • Promote a collaborative and solutions-oriented leadership environment


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, Recreation, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Minimum of 3 years of management or supervisory experience required; 5+ years preferred
  • Experience working with youth development or nonprofit organizations preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage programs, and build positive relationships
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supervising staff, volunteers, and large groups of youth
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and administrative systems
  • Valid Hawaii drivers license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance required
  • Ability to drive a multi-passenger vehicle preferred
  • Ability to pass background, drug, and driving record screenings

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This position requires the ability to actively participate in youth programs and activities, which may include standing, walking, lifting up to 30 pounds, recreational activities, and supporting indoor and outdoor events. The role also requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
