Job description


The Department of Health Informatics Institute at University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine, USF Diabetes and Endocrinology Center is seeking a BC/BE Internal Medicine Endocrinologist for full-time, faculty position. All candidates must have or be eligible for an unrestricted Florida medical license. The salary for this position is negotiable. USF DDE is administratively housed within- and has the support of the USF Health Informatics Institute in the development of research proposals and publication of findings. Currently USF DEC is #18 in USA based on US New ranking. The USF DDE operates in collaboration with Tampa General Hospital, USFs major teaching hospital, the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, and the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute. A major facet of the USF DDE is the USF Diabetes Center (USF DC), a state-of-the-art facility for education, clinical care, and clinical research with a large and expanding portfolio of clinical research studies in both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, and general endocrinology. In collaboration with other specialties, USF DEC developed multiple programs including weight management, pituitary comprehensive pituitary program, thyroid/parathyroid program, and osteoporosis program. Therefore, candidates with clinical and clinical research foci in general endocrinology, especially pituitary interest are encouraged to apply.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified candidates are expected to be outstanding clinicians that will contribute to expansion of USF DDE clinical services initiatives with a focus on pituitary disorders however, clinical and research activities in other general endocrinology areas will be supported. Responsibilities include participation in the USF DDE faculty call schedule, teaching for endocrine fellowship program, out-PT and in-PT services.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position is expected to be an outstanding clinician that will contribute to the expansion of Center clinical services and clinical research initiatives with pituitary disorders and other general endocrine disorders, and consultative services to assist regional primary care physicians in their patient care.
  • This positions main focus will be on general endocrinology, especially pituitary disorders. Clinical responsibilities include outpatient clinical care, participation in the USF DC faculty call schedule, and consultation at area hospitals. Professional Development and other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.

Qualifications
MINIMUM:
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
  • BC/BE Internal Medicine Endocrinologist. All candidates must have or be eligible for an unrestricted Florida medical license.
  • Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties.
