Job description

RSUI is seeking an experienced, driven Chief Claim Specialist to join our Atlanta Property Claims unit! The Chief Claim Specialist provides a high level of specialized, technical claim handling expertise for our E&S commercial property line of business.
Strong working relationships are a key component of RSUI's team-oriented, high-performance culture. Our specialized area of industry focus requires real-time, in-person collaboration that fosters meaningful dialogue and strengthens professional connections. Team meetings, employee events, and other work obligations also often require an in-person presence. This position will work RSUI's hybrid schedule, which requires three days weekly in the office.

Responsibilities:
  • Handles a designated segment of serious, complex, highly valued claims exposures reported to the claims unit.
  • Works in concert with the Unit Leader to plan and execute investigation, settlement negotiations, or sustain an appropriate denial governed by company guidelines.
  • Provides reporting on files to the Unit Leader and/or Sr. Management, as appropriate, recommending and/or confirming reserves, plan of action, and current evaluation as required.
  • Effectively deal with professionals, management, underwriters, attorneys, corporate insureds, sophisticated producers, and highly placed representatives of other insurance companies, and company underwriters and other co-workers.
  • Exhibits integrity and trust.
  • In area of specialization, handles policy interpretation, coverage issues, statutes and state regulations, litigation management, conducting and guiding investigations, adjustments, file documentation, case negotiation and settlement and strategies.
  • Attend business related functions, such as team meetings, mediations, trials, company events, etc.
  • Caseload includes complex coverage issues.
  • May perform other related tasks as assigned, depending on business need.

Qualifications:
  • College degree or equivalent property claims experience.
  • Minimum 10+ years of property claims experience, including substantial experience in E&S commercial property claims.
  • Adjuster's license required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required (telephone, email and interpersonal).
  • Excellent customer focus.
  • Advanced technical experience in areas including but not limited to policy interpretation, coverage analysis and issue identification, statutes and state regulations, claims adjusting, file documentation, investigations, litigation management, negotiation, and settlement strategies.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word and Excel).
