Job Summary
The Claim Manager position is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, adjustment, and overall management of assigned claims to ensure timely and effective resolution. This role provides leadership, supervision, and coordination of claims staff and departmental functions, ensuring compliance with company standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements. The position supports team development, performance management, workflow optimization, and operational excellence within the claims department. This role may serve as an advanced developmental opportunity for individuals being considered for progression to higher levels of claims management leadership.
Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee claim activities to ensure timely handling and compliance with corporate standards, client guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate, evaluate and adjust assigned claims in accordance with established claim handling standards and laws.
  • Reserve establishment and/or oversight of reserves for designated claims within established reserve authority levels.
  • Oversee claim-related expenses, resolve billing disputes as needed, and authorize claim payments in accordance with company procedures, industry standards, and established authority limits.
  • Negotiate settlements in accordance within Corporate Claim Standards, client specific handling instructions and state laws, when appropriate.
  • Direct handling of designated litigated and complex claims.
  • Provide education, training and assist in the development of claim staff.
  • Review and maintain personal diary on claim system.
  • Supervision of all claim activity for specified accounts.
  • Attend account Board Meetings, conduct file review meetings and/or training sessions with clients, as requested.
  • Attend and participate at hearings, mediations, and informal legal conferences, as appropriate.
  • Performance appraisals and objective/goal setting and attainment of claim staff.
  • Monitor legislative and industry changes, communicate impacts to staff, and oversee workflows and caseloads to ensure efficient operations.
  • Monitor compliance with Corporate Claim Handling Standards and special client handling instructions statutes, rules and regulations, and relative case law.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience required.
  • 15+ years of claims handling experience. Preferably Arizona experience.
  • Arizona Adjuster's License, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to set priorities, manage competing demands, and achieve performance goals.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Working knowledge of lower-level claims roles and responsibilities.
  • Experience handling liability claims, as well as complex litigation.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service focus with a commitment to meeting internal and external client needs.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance during designated client service hours.

Nice to Have:
  • Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency - highly valued for communicating with claimants, employers, or vendors, but not required
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Experience handling transportation accounts is a plus.

Compensation & Compliance
The posted salary reflects CCMSI's good-faith estimate in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and internal equity. This role may also qualify for bonuses or additional forms of pay.
