STATUS: Full Time/ Non-exempt (37.5 hours)

Hourly Rate: up to $22.00

Lifespan is a trusted, mission-driven, regional nonprofit dedicated to helping older adults take on the challenges and opportunities of longer life. We are a great place to work where staff can grow personally and professionally in a supportive and inclusive environment. 

The ROC GAL coordinator oversees the volunteer transportation program, ROC Give-A-Lift (GAL). ROC GAL is a new volunteer driver program providing essential transportation services to residents of the City of Rochester aged 60+. The goal will be to increase the capacity of volunteer transportation in underrepresented areas of the City of Rochester by building on, and expanding beyond, the existing programs. Entrepreneurial spirit, experience collaborating with diverse constituents, and comfort in the public realm needed. Demonstrated experience working with volunteers required. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.0 Volunteer Coordination

  • Screen, orient and assign volunteers.
  • Manage volunteer placement.
  • Maintain files, data, and time sheets. 
  • Completes GAL ROC's reporting requirements.
  • Works with GAL Manager, AmeriCorps Senior Volunteer and TRAC services.
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment plan including outreach presentations. 
  • Participate in the agency volunteer management committee.
  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices in volunteer management.

2.0 Development of new volunteer transportation program

  • Create affiliations with city of Rochester leadership, potential social groups, colleges, faith communities, neighborhood centers, and human service organizations.
  • Establish program serving underrepresented areas of the City of Rochester.
  • Effectively implement "Assisted Rides" technology as program management tool.

3.0 Provides Ride Coordination for City of Rochester Residents

  • Fields requests from residents 60+ seeking transportation. 
  • Provides volunteer match for transportation requests.
  • Provides mobility management support to individuals, including support to schedule rides and other transportation services for individuals served. 
  • Documents of all actions accordingly

4.0 Participates as a member of the inter-agency team.

  • Participate in all staff meetings (departmental and agency) and training, including cultural competency and corporate compliance.
  • Accepts and seeks guidance and supervision from the Director for Regional Mobility Management.

5.0 Other duties as assigned by supervisor.



Requirements

 QUALIFICATIONS: Education: BA, BS degree, or equivalent experience

Experience: 2 years' experience working in volunteerism, and/or recruitment, as well as experience working with age and economically diverse populations


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Computer skills and comfort with modern technology
  • Strong organizational skills necessary.
  • Must be able manage multiple projects at the same time. 
  • Valid NYS driver's license required.
  • Ability to travel around the county for outreach. 
  • Availability to attend evening and weekend events as needed. 
  • Embraces work in multi-cultural situations.
