POSITION SUMMARY The City of Rochester Hills is seeking dependable individuals to join our team as Regular and Substitute Adult Crossing Guards. This vital role ensures the safety of community students as they travel to and from school. Work is performed exclusively on days when school is in session.
Regular Adult Crossing Guards Work a split shift consisting of 1 hour in the morning and 45 to 60 minutes in the afternoon. Substitute Adult Crossing Guards Work on an on-call, as-needed basis to cover shifts in the absence of regular guards. $17.00 per crossing (First Year) | $18.00 per crossing (Second Year+) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Ensure students safely cross streets at designated school crossing locations in strict accordance with established guidelines Clearly, effectively, and professionally interact with students, parents, school personnel, City staff, and the Oakland County Sheriff's Office
Demonstrate sound judgment at all times and strictly adhere to safe work standards and traffic safety practices. Must possess an acceptable criminal history record. Previous experience working with children in a structured environment is preferred. Ability to safely perform all physical and operational duties of an Adult School Crossing Guard.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Physical Demands/Work Environment Work is performed entirely outdoors and exposure to all types of weather conditions is required. Requires extended periods of standing and walking while holding/carrying equipment (such as a handheld stop sign). It is the policy of the City of Rochester Hills to hire qualified individuals with limiting conditions in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
