Role Summary: Essential Skills:
The Senior Citrix Engineer will be responsible for designing, administering, optimizing, and supporting the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) platform for a large Home Furniture Dcor retail organization.
The role will ensure high availability, secure access, performance, and operational stability for store, corporate, contact-center, and distribution center users (where applicable).
This is a hands-on role requiring strong troubleshooting, automation mindset, and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
Citrix Platform Engineering Operations:
Administer and support Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenAppXenDesktopCVAD) including Delivery Controllers, StoreFront, StudioDirector, Citrix Workspace App, and VDAs.
Manage Citrix ADC (NetScaler) for load balancing, SSL offload, ICA proxy, GSLB (if used), and performance optimization.
Ensure platform availability via redundancy, health monitoring, and proactive capacity planning.
Virtualization Image Management:
Manage golden images (MCSPVS), patching, versioning, and controlled rollout strategies.
Maintain standardized application packaging and profile solutions (FSLogixUPMRoaming profiles as applicable).
Work with VMwareHyper-VAzureAWS teams (depending on hosting model) to ensure optimal computestorage performance.
Performance, Monitoring Troubleshooting (L3):
Lead advanced troubleshooting for ICAHDX performance, session latency, logon time, printerUSB redirection, GPO impacts, and app launch failures.
Analyze Citrix logs/telemetry and use tools such as Citrix Director, ControlUp, eG Innovations, SCOM, Splunk, or similar.
Identify recurring issues, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive fixes (Problem Management).
Security, Access Compliance:
Implement and maintain secure access controls including MFA, conditional access (where integrated), SSL cert management, and hardening recommendations.
Support audits by maintaining configuration baselines, access logs, and compliance documentation.
Coordinate with IAMSecurity teams for SSOSAML (if integrated with Azure ADOkta).
Retail Use-Case Enablement (Stores Corporate):
Ensure reliable access to retail-critical apps (POS support tools, merchandising, inventory, supply chain, finance, customer service apps) delivered via Citrix.
Support peak retail events (seasonal promotions, holiday sales) with enhanced monitoring, capacity readiness, and rapid incident response.
Change, Release Environment Management:
Own/participate in change management for upgrades, hotfixes, image updates, and configuration changes.
Plan and execute Citrix upgradesmigrations (e.g., CVAD LTSR upgrades), including rollback strategy and communication.
Documentation Knowledge Management:
