Position Summary:

We are looking for a Staff Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations team in delivering lifesaving Next-Generation 911 (NG911) solutions. In this role, you will manage the backbone that supports tens of millions of citizens and thousands of emergency 911 centers (PSAPs) across North America. Working across more than a dozen global data centers, you will have direct ownership of on-premises and cloud-based networking for our largest customers ensuring that these mission-critical systems are automated, optimized, and always available.

Responsibilities:

  • Take full responsibility for installation, configuration, life-cycle management and troubleshooting across our development and production environments. Provide technical direction and establish engineering standards across multi-vendor platforms including Juniper, Cisco, Citrix, Dell, F5, and Palo Alto.
  • Define long-term infrastructure strategy, evaluate emerging technologies, and lead implementation initiatives that improve scalability, security, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a senior technical escalation point for complex operational issues, critical incidents, and major infrastructure upgrades. Drive resolution efforts while ensuring high availability, resiliency, and reliability for mission-critical NG911 services.
  • Mentor and guide engineers across the organization by promoting engineering best practices, operational excellence, and knowledge sharing.
  • Identify network bottlenecks, resiliency gaps, and performance improvement opportunities across production environments. Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to implement scalable and sustainable solutions.
  • Develop and enhance network automation, monitoring, and operational tooling using Infrastructure-as-Code and scripting methodologies.
  • Participate in the Network Engineering on-call rotation and provide leadership during high-severity incidents within a 24x7 mission-critical environment.

Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise and carrier-grade networking technologies including Cisco and Juniper routing/switching platforms, Palo Alto firewalls (including Panorama), and F5 or Citrix load balancing solutions.
  • Deep understanding of BGP, OSPF, route redistribution, traffic engineering, and high-availability network design.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud networking environments, including AWS networking fundamentals, connectivity, routing, and security concepts.
  • Experience with network automation, scripting, or Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, or APIs is highly desirable.
  • A track record of solving complex technical problems in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.
  • Self-driven leader with strong ownership mindset, capable of working independently, driving initiatives to completion, and making sound technical decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical concepts, recommendations, and operational impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced experience with Cisco and Juniper routing/switching platforms, Palo Alto firewalls (including Panorama), and F5 or Citrix load balancers.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, plus 10+ years of relevant hands-on network engineering experience.
  • AWS Practitioner or higher-level cloud certifications.
  • CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, JNCIE, or equivalent advanced networking certifications are preferred.
