Title : Senior CNI Cloud Networking Engineer

Responsibilities
  • Ownership of CNI / Cloud networking design, build engineering and development activities required to deliver global cloud-native container platform related business outputs.
  • Deployment and test planning / execution for container platform networking capabilities and features
  • Providing design, engineering and code reviews that show an attention to detail and becoming an advocate for quality within the team.
  • Become a beacon for Kubernetes CNI / cloud networking knowledge and upskill other squad members / teams within company.
  • Providing good problem structuring and solving skills across complex multi-layered environments and able to work with either vendor or tenant teams to resolve.
  • Review and research potential new products; be a champion for these projects within company.
  • Be comfortable working in a fluid environment where requirements and priorities may change at short notice.
  • Maintain, configure, and validate your Kubernetes Platform networking builds / development changes across Development, Test and Live environments.
  • Providing consultancy to colleagues who want to deploy their application on to the new platform and help them to onboard as a tenant.
  • Speak to the platform architects / product owners, articulating the impact of any current business challenges, issues, or new feature requirements in the container platform networking space.

Must have Skills
  • Ability to present to senior management level in fluent business-level English.
  • 3+ years of enterprise Kubernetes networking engineering experience on large production environments
  • Strong hands-on experience successfully implementing and supporting Kubernetes CNI based container network plug-ins, particularly Cisco Isovalent Cilium and multi-interface builds.
  • Knowledge around CNI network deployment automation and testing.
  • Recent Linux experience, particularly around networking / eBPF based configuration.
  • Experience around monitoring / troubleshooting Linux based networking and securing container-based applications.
  • Strong data centre IP routing (including BGP/Multicast) and network service knowledge.
  • Experience of CNI integration into physical LAN Fabrics. (ideally Cisco or Arista)
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of Git based pipelines and coding concepts / approaches.
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment across many areas or tasks, with the ability to manage multiple activities against specific timelines.
  • Experience with automation Tooling such as Ansible, Terraform, Scripting.
  • Test Automation (Framework Creation / Establishing a process, Infra Testing)
  • Agile / CICD Tools (JIRA, Confluence, Gitlab)

As well as a proven technical background, the ideal candidate must be able to participate effectively in multi-functional meetings, clearly articulate sophisticated technical and capabilities, translate business requirements into technical requirements, and ultimately, into outcomes that are fit for purpose and use. Collaboration is key, as you will be helping company to deliver all of the platform infrastructure build, configuration, tooling, observability, and lifecycle management activities as code.
