Job description

Five Rivers Analytics is looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer. The Cloud Platform Engineer supports the design, implementation, and sustainment of secure and scalable cloud platform capabilities within DoD cloud environments. This role focuses on assisting with cloud operations, containerization, automation, and compliance tasks while contributing to platform reliability and security. Engineers in this role collaborate closely with senior staff to enhance cloud-native adoption across application teams.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in deploying and maintaining cloud resources such as compute, networking, IAM, and storage in AWS or Azure.
  • Support containerization efforts using Docker, including creating basic container images and helping investigate container issues.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines by updating pipeline configurations, monitoring runs, and assisting with routine automations.
  • Participate in developing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Help configure logging, monitoring, and observability tools within cloud environments.
  • Work with Kubernetes manifests and basic cluster concepts (pods, services, deployments) under supervision.
  • Assist application teams in adopting cloud-native patterns and containerized workflows.
  • Document processes, configuration changes, troubleshooting steps, and technical procedures.
  • Support adherence to DoD cybersecurity policies and assist with compliance documentation.

Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active Interim Clearance with Ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification required.
  • Fundamental understanding of cloud computing concepts (compute, networking, IAM, security).
  • Familiarity with Docker or similar container technologies.
  • Basic exposure to Git, version control workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
  • Introductory knowledge of IaC concepts (Terraform, CloudFormation) or willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of Linux command line basics.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Exposure to AWS or Azure through coursework, labs, or projects.
  • Experience with any DevOps tools such as GitLab, GitHub Actions, or automation test frameworks (e.g., Playwright).
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals (e.g., Wireshark, Cisco Packet Tracer).
  • Experience with containerization and simple application deployments.
  • Understanding of fundamental security concepts in cloud environments.
