What You’ll Do 

As an Advanced Practice Clinical Dietitian, you will report to the Clinical Nutrition Manager, Provides Medical Nutritional Therapy (MNT), using assessment, goal/intervention setting, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Specializes and/or is certified in Malnutrition, Enteral/Parental Feeding, Weight loss, Heart Failure, Diabetes, Critical Care, Oncology, and more. Educates patients based on their needs. Collaboratively establishes standards of care and protocols for specialized patient populations. Reviews medical records to assess nutritional needs and develops nutritional interventions in conjunction with the healthcare team. Evaluates indicators for the aspects of care in the quality improvement process. Serve as a role model, resource, and leader for fellow dietitians, interns, and students.

Advanced Practice Clinical Dietitian Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct nutrition assessments, screenings, and malnutrition evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and document individualized nutrition care plans (ADIME/PES).
  • Manage enteral/parenteral nutrition, diet orders, supplements, and nutrient calculations.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support patient care.
  • Monitor patient progress and coordinate discharge nutrition needs.
  • Provide individualized and group nutrition education to patients, families, and staff.
  • Develop educational materials and mentor interns/new team members.
  • Participate in rounds, care conferences, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and improve nutrition protocols, programs, and clinical practices.
  • Maintain professional credentials, regulatory compliance, and continuing education requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and adherence to organizational policies.
  • Perform additional departmental projects and responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring 

As an Advanced Practice Clinical Dietitian, this position requires registration as a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and licensure as a Dietitian in the State of Indiana. The role demands strong verbal and written communication skills, a thorough knowledge of current nutrition standards, and advanced education in dietetics, including a master's degree in a related field. Advanced specialty certifications, such as CDCES, CNSC, CSO, RD-AP, CCTD, CSP, CSR, CEDRD, IBCLC, CSOWM, or CSSD, are preferred, as are credentialing privileges for order writing. The position also requires an understanding of hospital operations, policies, procedures, standards of care, and communication processes. Experience in education and patient or staff teaching is highly desirable, along with the resourcefulness and adaptability needed to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Required Qualifications 

  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Master’s degree in Dietetics/Nutrition.
  • Registration with CDR (Commission on Dietetic Registration)
  • Membership with the AND (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics)
  • Licensed Dietitian in the state of Indiana
  • CPR Certification
