Job description

The Cigna Operation Leadership Development Program Internship

Location: Bloomfield, CT

Work Style:Hybrid (3 days in-office/week)
Duration:10 Weeks

Make an Impact This Summer

Join a 10week internship where you'll work on real business challenges, learn from leaders across a Fortune 500 health care company, and build skills that accelerate your early career. This program is designed for rising seniors (students who will have completed at least three years of study by the start date) who are curious, motivated, and eager to explore what a career in Operations can look like.

What You'll Gain

  • Work on a real business problem that develops strategic thinking, business acumen, and leadership skills.
  • Experience a dynamic, flexible work environment and gain exposure to Operations within a large, complex organization.
  • Build professional connections through mentorship, networking events, and leadership exposure.
  • Present your work to members of the Enterprise Operations leadership team at the end of the summer.

What You'll Work On

  • Lead components of operational projects by developing plans, monitoring progress, and removing barriers to timely delivery.
  • Analyze processes, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver data-driven recommendations that enhance quality, efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Build dashboards, scorecards, and metrics that provide actionable insights and inform decision-making.

Professional Development Opportunities

  • Participate in structured learning, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities to strengthen communication, business acumen, and problem-solving.
  • Engage in OLDP program activities including workgroup participation, offsite events, and cross-functional collaboration.

Pathway to Full-Time OLDP

  • Strong-performing interns may be invited to join the full-time OLDP program after graduation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MUST have already completed a summer internship at Cigna in the OLDP program.
  • Enrolled in a bachelor's program with at least 3 years completed.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (e.g., student organizations, athletics, community involvement).
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to relocate to Bloomfield, CT for the 10-week internship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Majors in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Healthcare Administration, or related fields.
  • 3.0+ GPA.
  • Interest in process improvement and project management.
  • Positive, motivated, and growth-oriented mindset.

Additional Information

  • Schedule: In-Office - 40 hours/week for 10 consecutive weeks beginning May 19, 2026.
  • Location: Applicants should be prepared to be aligned to the Bloomfield, CT office.
  • Compensation: $25.00/hour.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
