Role Description The Database Administrator is a full-time, on-site role located in Tracy, CA, responsible for managing and maintaining the church’s databases and related systems. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring database performance, optimizing queries, and ensuring data security, integrity, and availability. The role involves designing and updating database schemas to support ministry, membership, and operational needs, as well as implementing backup, recovery, and replication strategies. The Database Administrator will troubleshoot database issues, collaborate with staff to understand data requirements, and create documentation and reports that support informed decision-making. This position works closely with ministry leaders and administrative staff to ensure that technology effectively supports WHBC’s mission and community outreach.
Qualifications
  • Strong skills in Database Administration and hands-on experience managing production Databases.
  • Proficiency in Database Design, including schema modeling, normalization, and performance-oriented architecture.
  • Ability to perform Troubleshooting for database performance, connectivity, and data integrity issues.
  • Experience with Replication and backup/restore strategies to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge of SQL and at least one major database platform (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar).
  • Understanding of data security best practices, user access controls, and compliance with applicable policies.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-centered environment and support the organization’s values and objectives.
  • Relevant education or certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred, along with prior experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
