What is a Christian Information Technology professional?

A Christian Information Technology (IT) professional is someone who works in the field of information technology within a Christian context, such as churches, faith-based organizations, or Christian schools. Their responsibilities may include managing computer systems, maintaining networks, supporting software relevant to ministry, and ensuring data security. They often integrate their technical skills with a commitment to the mission and values of their organization, helping ministries operate efficiently and securely. This role may also involve training staff and volunteers on technology use that supports outreach and organizational goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Christian Information Technology professional?

To thrive as a Christian Information Technology professional, you need a solid background in IT principles such as networking, systems administration, and software development, often supported by a relevant degree or certifications like CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco. Familiarity with church management software, web development tools, and audio-visual systems is commonly required. Strong interpersonal skills, ethical integrity, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities are essential to effectively support ministry operations and ensure that technology aligns with organizational values and goals.

How does working in Christian Information Technology differ from IT roles in secular organizations?

In Christian Information Technology roles, professionals often support the unique technological needs of faith-based organizations, such as churches, ministries, or religious schools. This may involve managing specialized software for worship planning, donor management, or livestreaming services. Collaboration with ministry staff and volunteers is common, and there is often an emphasis on aligning technology solutions with the organization’s mission and values. Additionally, IT professionals in these settings may need to be flexible and resourceful, as budgets and resources can vary compared to larger secular organizations.

Jubilee is seeking a versatile, proactive, and completely self-reliant IT Operations Coordinator to serve as our solo, one-stop shop for support for all technology.

In this role, you aren't hidden away in a back server room; you are a vital, visible part of our daily operations. You will own our entire IT ecosystem from top to bottom—handling everything from immediate Tier 1 user support and physical cable running to high-level network engineering, Active Directory management, and infrastructure planning.

The ideal candidate doesn't just apply "band-aid" fixes. We are looking for a true problem solver who performs root cause analysis to ensure that when a technical glitch occurs, it is the last time.

Technical Support (Tiers 1–3)

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all technical issues via tickets, email, phone, and walk-ups.
  • Support, guide, and resolve issues for literally anything that plugs into a wall.
  • Dig deep into systemic technical issues to find the root cause and implement permanent fixes rather than quick, temporary workarounds.

Systems & Network Administration

  • Fully manage and maintain Microsoft 365, Exchange, file permissions, and Active Directory.
  • Act as the onsite Network Engineer: hands-on management, configuration, and troubleshooting of Access Points and switches. (UniFi)
  • Handle physical network infrastructure, including running and managing network cabling as needed.
  • Fully manage and maintain the VOIP system (3CX)
  • Fully manage and maintain a fleet of time clock tablets via MDM (ManageEngine)
  • Fully manage and maintain all desktops/laptops via RMM (NinjaOne)

Program Management, Budgeting & Vendors

  • Research, plan, propose, and implement future upgrades and enhancements to Jubilee’s      IT infrastructure.
  • Work with the CAO to build and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective, scalable technology choices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all current and future technology vendors.

Physical Security & Front-Facing Operations

  • Install, configure, and manage physical security cameras across all Jubilee locations, pulling footage and images upon request. (Lorex)
  • Act as the first line of physical security in the main lobby.
  • Embrace a community-first mindset by assisting with front-desk reception duties and providing a welcoming attitude when needed.

Who You Are

  • Proven experience managing a Microsoft 365/Active Directory environment while simultaneously being comfortable rolling up your sleeves to crimp cables or mount hardware.Have a heart for service and alignment with our Christian values
  • Highly autonomous and comfortable being the only IT professional on-site. You take extreme ownership of your environment.
  • A natural curiosity to ask why something broke, paired with the skills to ensure it doesn't happen again.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Because this role involves lobby presence and reception, a warm, patient, and helpful demeanor is a strict requirement.

Why This Role is Unique

Instead of being a small cog in a massive corporate IT machine, you will completely own the technology landscape of an organization making a real impact. If you love a job where no two days look exactly the same—where you can shift from configuring a switch to planning a IT project, to greeting a guest at the front desk—this is the perfect fit.
