Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated music teacher to join our Christian school community. This position would be responsible for teaching band and choir to middle school students and general music and band to upper elementary students. The time commitment is 3 full days per week. As a teacher in our institution, you will have the unique opportunity to integrate Christian values and teachings into the curriculum, fostering spiritual growth alongside academic development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to Christian education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

Curriculum Implementation:

  • Teach instrumental band to 4th through 8th grade students: recorders, ukeleles, and concert band instruments
  • Teach choir/vocal music to elementary and/or middle school students
  • Teach general elementary music to upper elementary grades (3rd through 5th grades)
  • Implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with both state standards and Christian principles
  • Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate various teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles
  • Incorporate music theory, technique, performance skills, and music appreciation
  • Integrate biblical teachings and values into daily instruction across all subjects

Classroom Management:

  • Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance, ensuring a positive and respectful classroom environment
  • Communicate expectations and progress with students and parents as appropriate
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to address any behavioral issues promptly and constructively
  • Prepare students for performances (concerts, chapel music, special events, etc.)
  • Manage instruments, music materials, and classroom resources responsibly
  • Foster a sense of community and teamwork among students, encouraging collaboration and mutual respect

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Assess student progress regularly, through a variety of assessment methods
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of student grades and progress, adhering to school policies and procedures.

Parent and Community Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, keeping them informed of their child's progress, achievements, and any concerns.
  • Collaborate with parents, classroom teachers, and school administrators to address student needs and support academic and spiritual growth.
  • Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and other community activities to build strong relationships with families and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a positive Christian role model for students.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
