Library Assistant
9.5 months/2 days per week/10.5 hours per week Monday's, 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Thursday's, 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Hourly Rate of Pay: $18.23 - $25.08
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills - Must have accuracy of typing/computer skills; be able to communicate clearly with both elementary students and with teaching staff; have good verbal and writing skills; knowledge of basic library structures and procedures; some knowledge of children's literature helpful. Able to work with parent library volunteers in a cooperative manner.
Characteristics/Traits - Must maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance; have control over emotions; be self-motivated, punctual, dependable in attendance, reliable in work habits, and be both children and task oriented; exercise discretion and good judgment; and derive satisfaction interacting with students.
Education/Training - High school diploma is required; additional training or work experience in public or private library environment desired but not mandatory. One-year student monitor permit is required ($25.00 online fee)
Experience - Work experience with elementary-age children and/or in libraries helpful. Qualifications for this position and of the applicants may be determined by using the Rubric System. (BCI/FBI Background check upon hire - $47.25 fee)
