Job description

Survey Party Chief - Build What Matters

Western Pennsylvania - Greater Pittsburgh Region

Take your career to the next level with an industry leader.

Trumbull Corporation is hiring experienced Survey Party Chiefs to support major infrastructure projects across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. If you take pride in precision, leadership, and seeing your work come to life in the field-this is your opportunity to make a real impact.

Why Trumbull?

You won't just be joining a company-you'll be part of a team building some of the region's most important infrastructure.

  • Top 100 National Contractor (Engineering News-Record)
  • Trusted heavy civil & highway construction leader since 1979
  • Landmark projects including:
    • Montgomery Lock & Dam
    • Mon-Fayette Expressway
    • Erie Central Bayfront Parkway

We invest in our people with:

  • Competitive pay + annual bonus
  • Comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability)
  • 401(k) with company match & profit sharing
  • Paid vacation & holidays
  • Long-term career growth on high-profile projects

What You'll Do

As a Survey Party Chief, you'll play a critical role in ensuring accuracy and quality across active construction sites.

  • Establish control lines and elevations for construction layout
  • Perform as-built surveys and verify field conditions
  • Conduct topographic and cross-section surveys
  • Calculate quantities to support project planning and payment
  • Maintain and calibrate survey equipment
  • Lead and mentor Survey Technicians and Trainees
  • Collaborate with project engineers and field teams
  • Keep detailed documentation of survey activities

What You Bring
  • 2+ years of technical surveying or engineering training
  • At least 1 year of construction surveying experience (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of modern surveying equipment and methods
  • Ability to read blueprints and perform geometric calculations
  • Leadership mindset with the ability to guide field crews

Field-based role: This position is primarily outdoors and hands-on, working in varying weather and site conditions.

Why This Role Stands Out

This isn't just another survey job. You'll be:

  • Leading field operations, not just supporting them
  • Working on complex, large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Part of a company where your expertise is respected and rewarded

Ready to Build Something Bigger?

Whether you're actively searching or simply open to the right opportunity, this is your chance to step into a role with greater responsibility, better rewards, and long-term stability.

Apply today or reach out confidentially to learn more.
