They set the overall strategy for technology and ensure that all solutions align with business goals and standards. Chief Architects work closely with stakeholders, development teams, and other architects to guide projects, manage technical risks, and maintain the integrity of the enterprise architecture. Their role often involves evaluating emerging technologies, establishing best practices, and ensuring long-term scalability and security.

They facilitate technical discussions, mediate between different teams to resolve architectural challenges, and provide guidance on best practices. By maintaining open communication and regular check-ins, the Chief Architect ensures that project requirements are clearly understood and technical solutions are scalable and maintainable, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Possess a master's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related discipline.
  • Possess experience leading or advising architecture governance bodies (e.g., architecture review boards, technical review boards, or similar forums).
  • Possess experience supporting federated or multi-cloud architectures, including alignment of security, data, and platform standards across environments.
  • Possess experience supporting data, analytics, artificial intelligence, or platform modernization efforts in a governance or architectural leadership capacity.
  • Possess experience engaging with industry partners, vendors, and open-source communities to inform architectural decisions.
  • Hold one or more relevant professional certifications supporting enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, or multi-cloud architecture (e.g., CISSP; professional-level cloud architect certifications from major cloud service providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud).
