Who You Are:
We are seeking a candidate with a strong positive attitude toward customer service to act as a Sous Chef. This person will have a genuine interest in working with older adults and be able to engage, motivate, and support both residents and fellow team members. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, and aligned with our values of respect, excellence, and community. Creativity, teamwork, and a drive to exceed expectations are key traits we're looking for as we work together to fulfill our mission of uplifting the lives of those we serve.
Essential Functions:1. Prepares the proper amounts of quality food on time for each meal; ensures customer satisfaction of quality of food by communicating with front house staff concerning resident comments; assists in properly training of all new kitchen staff; follows highest standards of safety and equipment operation; enforces safety and sanitation program; follows and cooks by all standard culinary practices; works with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and ideas.
2. Works as a team with coworkers; follows outlined purchasing procedures; informs Dining Services Director of any disciplinary problems that require attention.
3. Assists the Executive Chef in the evaluation of cooks, preps and utility staff; attends in-service programs as directed.
4. Maintain work area and keep the department in compliance with OSHA safety standards.
5. Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing.
6. Demonstrates the community hospitality promises towards residents, families, associates and vendors.
7. Develop, Implement and Act in accordance with department and community policies.
8. Is "on-call status during time away from work, such as after working hours or during days off. Also during critical operating issues and during disaster emergencies such as: snow, ice storms, fire, tornados, floods or as needed by the Executive Director.
9. Train and assist with hiring needs
  1. Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.
  2. High School education or GED preferred, but not required.
  3. Must have supervised a staff of 8 or more, or worked as a cook in a similar setting for at least one-year.
