Job Overview
The Sous Chef will play a key leadership role in the kitchen, assisting the Executive Chef in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Chef in planning, developing, and executing menu items.
  • Maintain consistency and quality in all dishes prepared, ensuring recipes and techniques are followed to the highest standard.
  • Supervise kitchen operations to ensure efficient and timely service, especially during peak hours.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to uphold culinary excellence and professionalism.
  • Support the hiring and onboarding process for new kitchen team members.
  • Lead by example, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and respect.
  • Schedule and delegate tasks effectively to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Monitor ingredient levels, conduct regular stock checks, and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Ensure proper food storage, rotation, and compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Implement and enforce kitchen policies, procedures, and hygiene standards.
  • Assist in managing food costs and minimizing waste through effective kitchen practices.

  • Assist with prep work, station coverage, and additional tasks assigned by management.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and complete company-assigned training.
  • Maintain uniform standards and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
  • Adhere to a reliable work schedule and perform duties safely.
  • Perform other tasks, including cross-training in different areas, as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred.
  • Experience as a Sous Chef or similar leadership role in a high-volume restaurant preferred
  • Commitment to quality safety, service, and food and beverage knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of various cooking & food prep techniques and kitchen operations
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and kitchen operations.
  • Passion for food, creativity, and attention to detail
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.
  • Flexible schedule helpful.
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate required.
  • Valid State Alcohol Server Certificate required.
