Position Overview
Maranatha Christian Academy is seeking an energetic, Christ-centered, and dedicated Varsity Head Cheerleading Coach to lead and develop our high school cheer program. The Varsity Head Cheer Coach will cultivate school spirit, promote athletic excellence, and provide meaningful leadership opportunities for student-athletes while supporting the mission and values of Maranatha Christian Academy. This position includes leading the cheer program throughout the football and basketball seasons, with responsibilities extending from August through March.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Guide the personal, athletic, and character development of each student-athlete on the roster.
  • Organize, communicate, and execute effective practice plans that prepare athletes for performances and game-day responsibilities.
  • Teach and reinforce proper cheerleading techniques, safety standards, and team expectations.
  • Communicate schedules, expectations, and program updates to athletes and parents on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Department to support school spirit initiatives and athletic events.
  • Attend and provide sideline support at all varsity home football and basketball games, as well as select away contests and postseason events.
  • Coordinate game-day responsibilities, including equipment preparation, set-up, and performance logistics.
  • Foster a positive team culture that reflects the mission, values, and expectations of Maranatha Christian Academy.
  • Meet with the Athletic Director at the beginning and conclusion of each season to review program goals, expectations, and outcomes.
  • Assist student-athletes in pursuing opportunities for continued participation at the collegiate level when applicable.
  • Coordinate with the Athletics Department to create and promote social media content highlighting the cheer program and student athletes.
  • Ensure compliance with all school, league, and state athletic association policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Knowledge &/or experience in cheer coaching.
  • Ability to mentor and positively influence middle school and high school student athletes
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of the school.
  • Ability to meet school and state coaching certification requirements.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to run, climb stairs, and respond swiftly during emergencies.
  • Move quickly in various situations.
  • Agility and flexibility for navigating school premises.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, crawl, bend or kneel.
