The Charge-Off Collector is responsible for recovering charged-off accounts by negotiating payment arrangements, settlements, and payment plans. This role involves contacting consumers, utilizing skip tracing to locate hard-to-reach individuals, and ensuring full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations while delivering professional and customer-focused experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Handle inbound and outbound calls with consumers and authorized third parties
- Negotiate payments, settlements, and repayment plans
- Resolve account issues and address consumer concerns or disputes
- Use skip tracing tools to locate consumers with outdated contact information
- Maintain a professional, empathetic, and customer-focused approach
- Educate consumers on account status and resolution options
- Recommend accounts for legal review when appropriate
- Prepare and send account-related correspondence
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of FDCPA and collection regulations
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Professional phone and basic computer skills
- Ability to manage difficult conversations and remain composed
- Detail-oriented with strong decision-making skills
- Ability to prioritize and work a flexible schedule
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
