Job description

The Marketplace Manager will serve as the commercial and strategic lead for our third-party marketplace channel on finishline.com and jdsports.com. This role owns vendor acquisition, cross-functional onboarding, framework governance, and pre-launch commercial execution. You will be responsible for expanding our digital product assortment by recruiting the right partners, establishing profitable contract terms, and ensuring a seamless operational launch. This individual should effectively exhibit JD Finish Line's core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility in everything they do while performing the following main duties:

Core Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Vendor Recruitment & Acquisition: Proactively identify, pitch, and recruit premium third-party brands, retailers, and specialty distributors to expand catalog depth on finishline.com.

  • Commercial Contract Negotiation: Own the end-to-end commercial terms and secure optimal 3P commission structures (take-rates) to protect and maximize corporate net profit margin targets.

  • Onboard Seller & Data Requirements: Establish and enforce overarching brand compliance standards, copywriting frameworks, and product data taxonomies that 3P merchants must adhere to.

  • Cross-Functional Internal Collaboration: Partner directly with internal corporate departments, including Finance, Tax, Legal, and Tech, to build seller profiles in internal ERP systems and manage technical configurations within Rithum.

  • Maximize Partner Assortment: Collaborate closely with prospective vendors during the pipeline stage to curate their product offering, ensuring it plugs strategic catalog gaps without cannibalizing core 1P retail revenue.

  • Validate Data, Inventory & Shipping Flows: Lead comprehensive pre-launch testing protocols, validating end-to-end data accuracy, cart checkout capabilities, split-payment routing, shipping parameters, and reverse logistics.

  • Performance Tracking & Executive Reporting: Take ownership of channel performance reporting, monitoring Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), net commission revenue, and overall profitability metrics for regular leadership updates.

  • Cross-Functional Live Troubleshooting Support: Act as the strategic escalation point for internal teams and the Marketplace Strategist to resolve macro-level account issues, contractual alignment problems, or financial settlement errors with live vendors.

Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and 5 - 7 years of experience in the customer facing marketplace digital/eCommerce space; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
