HEALTH CENTER CHEF MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Ensures all meals are prepared, served, and stored consistent with the current federal, state, and local standards governing nursing home/long-term care and assisted living facilities.
  • Trains, recognizes, and documents performance as needed.
  • Provides day-to-day work direction and problem-solving while continually communicating standards with team members.
  • Interviews, hires, on-boards, and reviews team members while ensuring appropriate staffing patterns. 
  • Trains team to continually improve quality of work to meet regulatory requirements and increase knowledge.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication with residents, CDM, and all team members.
  • Recognizes the importance of customer service and strives each day to provide an exceptional experience for each person we serve.
  • Leads team to ensure each interaction with customers are positive. 
  • Develops and maintains a work environment that is conducive to high productivity and morale.
  • Serves as a liaison between CDM’s, Dietitians and Nursing team members to ensure residents’ nutritional needs are met.
  • Oversees all meals are delivered timely, properly, and accurately.
  • Follows and abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, (HIPAA) privacy guidelines as administered by Liberty Senior Living.
  • Monitors required inventory as established by departmental census/budgets.
  • Order food and supplies as needed
  • Track invoices from vendors, checks orders for accuracy, and supervises the proper storage of food and non-food items
  • Ensure stored items meet or exceed regulatory compliance by following food code procedures, such as, first-in-first-out, (FIFO), date received, date opened, date of expiration etc.
  • Ensures proper temperatures and storage of raw and leftover foods; inspects and maintains the cleanliness of the refrigerated areas, storage rooms, utility rooms, and other areas of the dining services department.
  • Ensures that dining staff personnel maintain habits of good personal hygiene and infection control procedures
  • Ensures that dining team members comprehend and follows standard precautions, safety rules, disaster policies and procedures, and sanitation of work areas in the kitchen.
  • Reports any equipment in need of repair through Liberty’s TEL’s program and follows up with CDM and/or Maintenance to ensure repairs are completed.
  • In the event of a fire or other emergency, he/she assists with resident evacuation.
  • Attends in-service training and other work-related meetings as required or approved.
  • Carries out special projects as identified by Liberty Senior Living

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a minimum of three years of cooking and 1-2 years of supervising within a Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, and/or Memory Care food service operation. 
  • Completion of a state-approved food safety course is required.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward managing kitchen operations serving Health Center residents are essential.
  • Ability to work with a variety of staff and residents with differing values, attitudes, capabilities, and dispositions is essential.
  • Know and maintain local, state and federal requirements regarding health inspections.
