Job description

Project Overview - PTSS C5ISR Hardware & Software Program
The Lockwood Group is seeking a Technical Writer with experience in writing test plans to support a C5ISR hardware and software effort for a U.S. Army customer located at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD. This program provides engineering, programmatic, and lifecycle support to enhance mission-critical command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR) capabilities in support of Army modernization priorities.
Position Overview
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including user manuals, technical guides, test plans, and policy documents.
  • Onsite at Aberdeen Proving Ground or contractor location in Belcamp, MD

Responsibilities
  • Develop technical manuals, reports, and system documentation.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise materials.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD documentation and security policies.
  • Collaborate with engineers and analysts to gather accurate technical information.
  • Manage document version control and updates.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field.
  • 10 years experience in technical documentation, 5+ within DoD environments.
  • Experience using tools like CECOM Web Compose to develop, validate, and publish technical manuals in XML format to comply with military standards e.g. MIL-STD-40051-2B.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
