Sous Chef - Culinary Excellence at Oaks Whitaker Glen (CCRC)

Location: Raleigh, NC
Employment Type: Full-Time


About the Role

The Sous Chef plays a key leadership role in our high-end, cook-from-scratch kitchen, assisting the Executive Chef in managing all aspects of culinary operations. This position requires refined culinary skills, strong leadership, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. The Sous Chef ensures consistency, creativity, and excellence in every dish while fostering a culture of teamwork, efficiency, and professionalism.


Culinary Leadership

  • Support the Executive Chef in overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations.
  • Lead and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, standards, and presentation.
  • Train and mentor cooks, prep staff, and dishwashers to improve skills and performance.
  • Conduct daily lineups and assist with onboarding and retention of top culinary talent.

Operations & Execution

  • Ensure smooth service execution during all meal periods.
  • Oversee mise en place, prep schedules, and line setup for accuracy and readiness.
  • Enforce health and safety protocols, food handling standards, and cleanliness requirements.
  • Foster a positive, disciplined, and respectful kitchen culture.
  • Maintain composure and leadership during high-volume service periods.
