Precise Systems is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented RF Electronic Technician, Senior, VI to join our team in Crane, IN. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following responsibilities and duties and possess the following credentials for the job. The tasks this role performs are very hands-on that require experience in RF hardware and test measurement with knowledge in RF circuitries and schematics.

This role requires in-person support. 

Duties:

  • Independently plans and accomplishes complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity or serves as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering, e.g., environmental factors affecting electronic engineering.
  • Deliver creativity and judgment to devise approaches to accomplish work, resolve design and operational problems, and make decisions in situations where standard engineering methods, procedures, and techniques may not be applicable.
  • Provides advice on unusual or controversial problems or policy matters.
  • Review work for compliance with overall project objectives.
  • May supervise or train and be assisted by lower-level technicians
  • Prepares designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (e.g., a heating system in an office building, or new electronic components such as solid-state devices for instrumentation equipment)
  • Plans approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques; resolves design problems with contract personnel, and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system
  • Designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary design; uses untried and untested measurement techniques; and improves the performance of the equipment. May advise equipment users on redesigning to solve unique operational deficiencies.
  • Plans approach and conduct various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by (a) difficult performance requirements because of conflicting attributes such as versatility, size, and ease of operation; or (b) unusual combination of techniques or components. Arranges for fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment.
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of RF systems.
  • Providing technical support during test events.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoot problems that are associated with the systems and work with Engineers to resolve all issues.
  • Repair and install various types of cables, modules and assemblies required for testing.
  • Serve as UAV pilot / tactical vehicle driver as required 
  • Attend planning meetings, IPTs, scheduling sessions as required
  • Provide input and make recommendations for efficiency of execution of events
  • Serve as SME on test equipment and material

Desired Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related engineering discipline with coursework in RF, microwave engineering, or electromagnetic theory.

Desired Experience:

  • 3+ years related professional experience in electronics technology test and measurement of Electronic Countermeasure Systems.
  • Experience in one of the Military specialties associated with Electronic Countermeasures, RF, and Microwave technical schools.
  • Expert level proficiency in a variety of common and complex tech level tasks. Proves in-depth understanding of production processes as well as all interfacing processes. Exhibits strong leadership and communication skills. 
  • Typically, a minimum of 5 years as an engineering technician with background in electrical design support and troubleshooting of systems and board level designs
  • Experience with RF test equipment such as signal sources, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers and other general use test equipment
  • Testing and troubleshooting hardware issues to determine corrective actions at the system level, down to Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) and component levels including analog, digital, radio frequency (RF), power circuitry and interfaces
  • Ability to work from schematics, CCA layout, and understand test requirements including written and oral instructions
  • IPC Solder certification
  • Proven certified soldering techniques to rework surface mount components at the board level
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities on multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)

Requirements:

  • Traveling up to 50%
  • Must be willing to work in inclement weather
  • Must be able to lift over 20lbs.

Requirement: The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Group I/II s-UAS pilot certification and pass a FAA Class III physical.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
