Homeschool Connections Catamount Partner - Job Description

Position Title: Homeschool Connections Catamount Partner

Employment Type: Part-Time, one day a week (Currently Tuesdays)

Location: Gateway Learning Center and Catamount Institute Mountain Campus

Reports To: Chief Academic Officer, District Administration

Program Overview:

The Homeschool Connections Initiative is a new program dedicated to expanding district offerings to better serve homeschool students and families within our district. The initiative aims to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging educational environment that fosters trust, connection, and long-term retention. We prioritize person-to-person communication and parent-partnered learning models to help families meet their unique educational goals.ย  As part of this program, WPSD has partnered with Catamount Institute to provide hands-on, outdoor education to our students

Position Summary:

We are seeking a collaborative and flexible educator to serve as a Homeschool Connections Catamount Partner. This role is pivotal in launching and managing the initiative's programming, systems, and community outreach. The successful candidate will support the Catamount Staff in facilitating direct student instruction, support family engagement, and provide a warm nurturing environment for student growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction & Programming:
    • Support the certified teaching staff of Catamount Institute on-site Tuesdays with our K-5th grade students.
    • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences that align with the program's focus on person-to-person interaction.
    • Coordinate with teachers, guest speakers and community partners to enrich the student experience.
    • Be flexible in mindset, scheduling, and student grouping
  • Operational Management:
    • Maintain accurate records and attendance tracking within district systems (e.g., Infinite Campus).
    • Collaborate on administrative tasks, including scheduling, safety protocols (e.g., volunteer/visitor management), and operational logistics.
    • Coordinate transportation with the assistance of program secretaries
    • Coordinate sack lunches
    • Administer medication and first aid as needed.
  • Family & Community Engagement:
    • Build and sustain trusting, long-term relationships with participating homeschool families.
    • Support outreach efforts, including participating in program open houses and events.
    • Clearly communicate program structure and expectations to stakeholders, balancing district administration requirements with family preferences.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:
    • Track attendance carefully
    • Ensure all volunteers have gone through WPSD background checks

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to facilitate flexible, student-centered curriculum.
  • Attention to details and ability to organize
  • CPR Training (can be provided after employment)
  • A love for outdoors, willingness to be outside all day
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, safe, and supportive educational environment.
  • Ability to hike on uneven trails, dirt, gravel and rocks, perform well at over 9,000 feet elevation, able to stand and bend for hours at a time, lift up to 50 pounds if needed

Additional Duties

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by central office administration.
