The Senior Market Development Manager is a key memberย ofย the Market Development team. This team is part of the broader Strategy department, is a highly analytical and strategy-oriented group that focuses on identifying, understanding, and developing business opportunities for RWEA in the US market. This team prioritizes markets for investment by generating in-depth actionable market supply/demand analyses, assessing market fundamentals and policy drivers, and developing actionable competitor and customer analyses. Moreover, the Market Development group identifies and assesses new opportunities in adjacent business areas. This group provides ongoing market intelligence for executive leadership through reports and continuous monitoring, distilling key insights to shape RWEA's strategy.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead comprehensive and actionable market analyses, assessing market fundamentals, policy drivers, and project economics to inform corporate strategy and investment priorities
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities (e.g. in areas like data center power supply, transmission, offtake, development, and new energy generation and storage technologies)
  • Develop actionable competitor, market, and customer analyses to guide business activities (e.g., offtake RfP bids) and strategic initiatives
  • Lead the prioritization and analysis of target markets at the state/ISO/offtaker level, identifying key dynamics/challenges and developing winning strategies
  • Provide ongoing market intelligence, distilling key insights and implications for strategic planning
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including industry partners, regulators, and internal teams (e.g. Development, M&A, Controlling, Engineering, Corporate Affairs)
  • Prepare and present key recommendations to senior management
  • Develop and mentor more junior colleagues within the Strategy team, fostering a high-performing culture

Job Requirements and Experiences:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's or advanced degree in STEM, business, or other relevant fields, preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in market analysis, business development or strategy roles in the US power sector, through consulting or relevant industry roles
  • Strong knowledge of the US power market fundamentals, the utility industry and commercialization of wholesale energy projects. Deep specialization in one or more ISOs highly preferred
  • Strong quantitative modelling abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical capabilities and business acumen
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage and influence senior stakeholders
  • Strong organization and project management skills
  • Strives for quality and excellence, while being pragmatic
  • Solution-oriented. Productively challenges the status quo, and develops new ideas
  • Motivated self-starter, reliable, collaborative, team-oriented, adaptable, high-integrity, self-reflective, able to learn and act on feedback
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Excel, Word, Power Point). AI skills are a plus

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $164,000 - $200,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
