Job Description SummaryThe LaFetra College of Education (LFCE) at the University of La Verne invites applications for a 50%, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Instructor in the Department of Leadership, Policy, and Human Development. Screening of applications begins immediately and continues until the position is filled.
We are seeking a collaborative and equity-minded instructor to teach graduate- and doctoral-level courses across programs in the department. The ideal candidate will bring a commitment to excellence in teaching, strong content expertise, and the ability to support practice-connected, cohort-based learning for working professionals.

Position SummaryThis 50% faculty role includes teaching, advising, and program support. The Instructor will contribute to coursework in areas such as leadership, human development, organizational change, and applied research, depending on expertise.
The role may also include meaningful support for leadership preparation and credentialing programs, including work connected to fieldwork, performance assessment, and program alignment with accreditation standards.
Primary Responsibilities- Teach graduate and/or doctoral courses.
- Support practice-based learning experiences and applied leadership development.
- Engage in course development and curricular revision to ensure alignment with state guidelines, research-informed practices, and student needs.
- Collaborate with faculty on program design, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Advise and support graduate students in alignment with program expectations.
- Participate in program, department, and college meetings and contribute to shared governance and collaborative academic culture.
- Additional responsibilities may include (based on program needs and candidate expertise):
- Supporting leadership preparation programs, including the PASC program.
- Providing guidance to candidates on performance-based assessments such as CalAPA.
- Supporting fieldwork experiences and partnerships with school or organizational sites.
- Supporting program alignment with California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) standards.
- Contributing to accreditation-related activities, including documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement processes.
- Collaborating on program coordination, accreditation, or leadership tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications - Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Child Development, Human Development, Organizational Leadership, or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching or mentoring graduate students or adult learners.
- Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across academic units.
Preferred Qualifications - Earned doctorate (or ABD) in a related field.
- Experience teaching in graduate or doctoral programs.
- Experience with cohort-based and/or online program delivery.
- Experience in school or district leadership or organizational leadership roles.
- Familiarity with performance-based assessments (e.g., CalAPA) and/or accreditation processes (e.g., Experience supervising fieldwork or mentoring aspiring leaders.
- Record of collaboration in curriculum design or academic innovation.
