SUPERVISOR: Career and Technical Education Cafe Supervisor

SUMMARY: Perform a variety of customer service, food preparation, and cleaning duties in a team environment. Ensure that high quality and great value food and drink are prepared and served to cafe customers from a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job; not all tasks may be performed by each employee. Duties and assignments may vary. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.

  • Run the POS system (cash register) along with cash handling. [Daily, 15%]
  • Provide a positive customer service experience for all guests. [Daily, 15%]
  • Follow proper food handling and food safety procedures. [Daily, 15%]
  • Keep the cafe clean and organized during and after service times. [Daily, 15%]
  • Communicate as a team member with other student cafe workers and direct cafe supervisor. [Daily, 15%]
  • Demonstrate professionalism including proper uniform, communication (language), and reliability. [Daily, 15%]
  • Keep proper food inventory and re-stock grab & go, reach in cooler, etc. [Daily, 5%]
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum completion of middle school education.
  • No experience required.
  • Able to handle customer interactions professionally
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.

  • Maintain or ability to acquire ServSafe Food Handler certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CCIC Hospitality and Tourism pathway student.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Moderate physical effort (must be able to lift up to 30 pounds).
  • Prolonged standing/walking.
  • Repetitive bending, reaching, and pulling.
  • Eye/hand coordination for register and computer operation.
  • Noisy environment.
