Description


The Café Attendant is responsible for providing outstanding guest service, receiving and processing payments, and serving food and beverage items in a timely manner. In addition, the Café Attendant is responsible for engaging with guests behind the customer service counter, as well as beyond the service counter. They will also assist the kitchen team members, as needed, to ensure quick and efficient ticket times. This part-time position reports to the Café Shift Leader and the Regional Food & Beverage Director.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • Operate cash register and Point of Sale (POS) System
  • Engage with members and guests to include greeting customers, and providing friendly and professional service
  • Provide excellent guest service
  • Observe guests to anticipate their needs and respond quickly to requests
  • Build rapport with members and guests
  • Upsell food and beverage items
  • Operate a smoothie station
  • Serve food and beverage items in a timely manner
  • Open and close the Front of the House (FOH) and Café areas
  • Clean and maintain the Front of the House and Café areas
  • Organize, stock, and control inventory
  • Communicate with managers regarding FOH issues
  • Possess strong guest service skills
  • Able to multitask
  • Able work irregular shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Able to stand and/or walk for the duration of the shift (8 or more hours)
  • Able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the Café Shift Leader, Food & Beverage Director and/or the General Manager


Requirements


Education and/or Experience: No previous education or experience required. Prior experience with food and beverage sales is preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Use of a windows-based workstation and, upon hire and training, associated property-specific Point of Sale software (i.e. - Toast) is required.


Physical Demands:


  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


Work Environment:


The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
