Join Our Team as a Part Time Trauma Counselor!
Are you passionate about supporting the Youth & Children Population and making a real difference in their lives? EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 80,000 people through 120 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated part-time Trauma Counselor to join our Suffolk County Children's Advocacy Program.
  • Wage: $35-40 per hour
  • Schedule: 4 hours per week
  • Location: Child Advocacy Center - 84 Wheeler Road in Central Islip NY

Purpose of This Role:
The Trauma Counselor is responsible for assessing and counseling victims of child sexual abuse, human trafficking and or commercial sexual exploitation. This includes promoting a trauma-informed approach through individual and group counseling, as well as collaborating with CAC Advocates.
What are the key Responsibilities:
  • Provide trauma-informed therapy for minor victims of human trafficking, rape, sexual abuse/assault and their non-offending family members.
  • Provide trauma informed, victim centered counseling services and outreach to minor victims of human trafficking and youth at-risk of human trafficking to youth in Suffolk County, NY.
  • Continually assess the needs of the victims and their families and reflect these needs in staffing, evaluations, treatment plans, and chart notes.
  • Coordinate with CAC Advocates to ensure clients receive public benefits, employment support, medical care, return of personal property, and referrals for medical exams, mental health services, residential assistance, and both short- and long-term service coordination.
  • Document the services required to ensure accurate case records are maintained in CAC database.
  • Maintain accurate database of professional referral resources that assist stated population.
  • Provide back-up and support to CAC for office coverage.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly statistical and annual reports as required by funding source.
  • Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration.

What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:
  • Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) preferred.
  • Experience and credentialed to deliver an NCA approved, evidence-supported modality such as TF-CBT, PCIT, AF-CBT, CFTSI, or MDR
  • Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have access to an automobile and possess valid NYS driver's license.
  • Must have NYS driver's license and access to an automobile.
