Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for the daily, routine and preventative maintenance of the facility, systems, vehicles and equipment within the arena and community ice rink.

This role pays an hourly rate of $20.00-$25.00

This position will remain open until June 19, 2026.

About the Venue

Cable Dahmer Arena is a 5,800 seat arena in Independence Missouri. In conjunction with the Arena, OVG also operates Independence Community Ice. 

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining well established preventative maintenance systems for facility and equipment.
  • Responsible for breakdown repairs and recovery.
  • Assist in overseeing the ongoing operation and maintenance of the ice refrigeration plant.
  • Ensures facility plumbing, electrical, HVAC and other support systems are routinely maintained at a high level of operating.
  • Assists the Maintenance Manager in the process of developing and maintaining operations department budgets.
  • Assists the Maintenance Manager in the process for submission of proposed capital projects, review viability and functionality of proposed submissions, and serves as Project Manager to complete a variety of approved Capital budget projects annually.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a large multi-purpose facility preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with supervisors, peers, team, arena attendants and guests.
  • Ability to assist coordinating major maintenance projects, capital and operational work projects within stringent time and budget constraints.
  • Must have knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC and general maintenance within a commercial/industrial setting.
  • Basic knowledge of automated building systems (ABS) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Attention to detail to ensure all jobs are completed in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of ice resurfacing machines preferred but not required.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, days, evenings, holidays, extended (long) workdays for an extended number of days as needed.
