Job description

Meat Cutter | Piggly Wiggly
The Role: Master of the Craft
As a Meat Cutter at Piggly Wiggly, you are more than a butcher-you are a culinary educator and a guardian of quality. Working closely with the Meat Manager, you will bring a "passion for food" to the counter, breaking down premium products and crafting specialty items that define our store's reputation. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who leads by example, mentors fellow team members, and ensures every customer walks away with the perfect cut and the best cooking advice.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Expert Butchery: Break down beef, pork, lamb, and poultry products with precision. Prepare specialty merchandise, including house-made sausage, cured meats, and ready-to-cook entrees.
  • Customer Education: Actively engage with guests to explain different cuts and provide expert advice on the best cooking techniques for meat and seafood.
  • Team Mentorship: Lead by example by training and mentoring other Team Members on proper cutting, preparation, and presentation standards.
  • Operational Excellence: Receive and unload product deliveries, ensuring everything is stored correctly to maintain freshness and integrity.
  • Safety & Compliance: strictly follow all health, sanitation, and "Weights and Measures" procedures. You will ensure all equipment is operated and sanitized in a safe, proper manner.
  • Technical Skill: Demonstrate expert efficiency and care with hazardous equipment, including butcher knives, power slicers, and heated wrapping stations.

What We're Looking For:
  • Craftsmanship: A demonstrated passion for food and a high level of respect for the detail required in professional meat cutting.
  • Integrity: A commitment to honest dealings with products, colleagues, and customers.
  • Physical Strength: Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment.
  • Leadership Qualities: A proactive approach to creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone who visits our store.

Why Join the Piggly Wiggly Meat Team?
  • Flexible Career Paths: We offer both Full-Time and Part-Time positions to fit your goals.
  • Comprehensive Benefits (Full-Time): Includes full health insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), and a 401(k) plan.
  • Growth Opportunities: We value our experts and offer clear paths for career advancement and flexible scheduling.
