Job description

Frederik Meijer Gardens amp; Sculpture Park
Business Systems Manager
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Department: IT amp; Digital Transformation
Reports To: Senior Director of IT amp; Digital Transformation
Schedule: Full-Time, Salary, Exempt
Be Part of Transforming How We Work

Frederik Meijer Gardens amp; Sculpture Park is seeking a Business Systems Manager to lead the strategy, optimization, and evolution of the technology platforms that support our organization.

This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of business strategy, technology, data, and process improvement. With primary ownership of Salesforce and responsibility across a broader ecosystem of business applications, you’ll partner with leaders throughout the organization to understand how work gets done, identify opportunities to make it better, and translate business needs into scalable technology solutions.

You’ll bring the technical depth to understand systems firsthand, the business acumen to see opportunities beyond individual requests, and the leadership skills to build capabilities that support Meijer Gardens now and into the future.

Why This Role Matters

Technology should do more than support existing processes: it should help the organization work smarter.

The Business Systems Manager will help shape how Meijer Gardens uses technology to improve efficiency, automate processes, strengthen data and reporting, and scale operations. While Salesforce is a core area of ownership, this role is intentionally broader: you’ll work across systems and priorities, support wider IT and Digital Transformation initiatives, and help determine where technology can create the greatest organizational value.

You’ll also build and lead a small Business Systems team, establishing the practices, priorities, and capabilities needed to deliver reliable and increasingly sophisticated solutions.

What You’ll Do
Business Systems Strategy amp; Transformation
  • Own and evolve the strategy, roadmap, governance, and continuous optimization of Salesforce and other assigned business systems.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for process improvement, automation, scalability, and standardization across the organization.
  • Partner with business and IT leaders to prioritize technology investments and ensure system capabilities support organizational goals.
Business Partnership amp; Solution Delivery
  • Serve as a strategic technology partner to departments across Meijer Gardens, translating operational needs and challenges into effective system solutions.
  • Gather and analyze business requirements, evaluate processes, and recommend configurations, enhancements, integrations, or other solutions.
  • Look beyond individual requests to identify root causes, cross-functional opportunities, and solutions that can scale across the organization.
Salesforce amp; Business Systems Leadership
  • Provide primary leadership and ownership of the Salesforce platform, including architecture, configuration, workflows, flows, objects, validation rules, integrations, and user adoption.
  • Oversee system enhancements, releases, testing, change control, and ongoing optimization.
  • Support and develop expertise across additional enterprise applications and broader IT initiatives rather than operating solely within a single platform.
Data, Reporting amp; Insights
  • Strengthen data integrity, governance, consistency, and accessibility across business systems.
  • Oversee dashboards, reporting, and analytics that help leaders make informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to improve data visibility and promote effective use of organizational information.
Team Leadership amp; Capability Building
  • Build, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Business Systems team.
  • Establish effective operating rhythms, delivery standards, documentation, and system-management best practices.
  • Manage workload and priorities while developing internal capabilities that reduce dependency on outside resources and strengthen long-term organizational capacity.

What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in business systems administration, enterprise applications, or advanced IT support.
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce architecture, configuration, administration, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into practical, scalable technology solutions.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience partnering with stakeholders across multiple business functions.
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Salesforce Administrator, Advanced Administrator, or related certifications.
  • Experience with reporting, analytics, dashboard development, and data governance.
  • Experience with integrations and interconnected business systems.
  • Experience supporting multiple enterprise applications and balancing competing technology priorities.
  • Experience leading system implementations, enhancements, or transformation initiatives.

What Makes This Opportunity Unique
  • Shape a growing function: Help define how Business Systems operates and build the team’s capabilities for the future.
  • Influence organization-wide transformation: Work across departments to solve problems that affect how Meijer Gardens operates.
  • Own a critical platform without being limited to it: Lead Salesforce while developing experience across a broader technology ecosystem.
  • Turn ideas into measurable improvements: Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, scalability, and better decision-making.
  • Combine strategy with hands-on expertise: This isn’t a role that simply delegates technical work—you’ll have the opportunity to understand problems deeply and help drive solutions.

Our Values
We seek team members who embody our shared Values:
  • Welcoming: Fostering joy and an inclusive, accessible environment for everyone
  • Excellence: Approaching all we do with world-class intentionality
  • Innovation: Creating engaging experiences in art, culture, and nature
  • Integrity: Operating with honesty, transparency, and accountability
  • Stewardship: Preserving and enhancing our community and resources

If you enjoy connecting technology with real business challenges, finding smarter, scalable ways of working, and leading both systems and people through meaningful change, we'd love to hear from you!

Working Conditions: This position works primarily in an office environment with regular interaction across departments and throughout Meijer Gardens’ campus. The role requires frequent computer and systems work, the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure, and occasional work in grounds, exhibition, or outdoor areas. Flexibility may occasionally be required to support system implementations, organizational needs, events, evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Physical Requirements: This role requires basic mobility throughout office, grounds, and exhibition areas; the ability to observe information at close range and communicate accurately with others; and regular use of computers and other office technology. The position may occasionally involve equipment setup or handling objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
As part of our onboarding process, all new hires are required to complete our background check.
Frederik Meijer Gardens amp; Sculpture Park is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
We believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
