What is business process design?

Business process design is the practice of analyzing, creating, or reengineering the workflows and procedures within an organization to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability. It involves understanding existing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and designing new processes that align with organizational goals. This discipline is critical for optimizing operations, reducing costs, and enhancing customer satisfaction. Business process design often uses methodologies like BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) and may involve automation tools or software to implement changes.

How does a business process design professional typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

Business Process Design professionals work closely with various departments such as IT, operations, and management to map, analyze, and improve workflows. Collaboration often involves leading workshops, conducting interviews with stakeholders, and facilitating cross-functional meetings to gather input and ensure process changes are practical and aligned with business goals. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement are key, as changes in process design often require buy-in and support from multiple teams across the organization.

Training Delivery: Deliver training that builds proficiency, confidence, and consistency across domestic and offshore audiences.
• Facilitate virtual and in-person training sessions for new hires, tenured staff, and the offshore (LSC) team.
• Adapt delivery style to learner audience, time zone, and context (live cohort, self-paced, blended, on-the-job).
• Collaborate with managers and supervisors on reinforcing training in day-to-day operations.
AI-Enabled Content & Capability: Apply AI tools to accelerate content development, personalize learning, and improve outcomes.
• Use AI-enabled authoring tools to draft, refine, and localize training content efficiently.
• Pilot AI-driven learning experiences (e.g., adaptive learning paths, in-flow-of-work assistance) and recommend scale, adjust, or sunset.
• Stay current on emerging AI capabilities in the learning and development space.
Performance, Measurement & Continuous Improvement: Use data to identify capability gaps and improve training effectiveness over time.
• Define and track training KPIs, including time-to-proficiency, knowledge retention, and post-training performance.
• Analyze operational and quality data to identify training gaps and recommend focused interventions.
• Capture learner feedback and iterate on content, delivery, and learning paths based on what the data shows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure training content is accurate, current, and operationally relevant.
• Partner with Operations, Compliance, Legal, and subject-matter experts to validate content accuracy.
• Coordinate with the Workforce Management and Industrial Engineering Analysts to align training with capacity plans and engineered standards.
• Support the Sr Manager in liaison work with the offshore (LSC) team for training-related follow-up.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
