Job description

We're looking for a People Operations Specialist to join our growing HR team. In this role, you'll be a go-to resource for employees and a key operator behind the scenes - supporting everything from benefits administration and Workday (HRIS) to onboarding, compliance, and HR policy. You'll bring structure and care to the day-to-day work that keeps our people programs running smoothly, while also looking for ways to improve and automate how we work.
The ideal candidate brings 2-5 years of HR generalist experience, strong organizational skills, and a genuine service orientation. Workday and benefits administration experience are a plus, and we'd love to hear from you if you're curious about using AI and automation to make HR better. Most importantly, you'll thrive here if you take initiative, communicate clearly, and care about the people you support.
What you'll do:
  • Employee Support & Policy Guidance: Serve as a knowledgeable first point of contact for employee questions on HR policies, procedures, and benefits
  • Compliance: Help ensure our HR practices and policies stay aligned with applicable employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Workday Administration (HRIS): Complete daily Workday tasks in support of the People Ops team; process employment changes, run audits, and keep our system of record clean and current
  • Process Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and improve HR processes, whether through automation, better workflows, or smarter use of our tools
  • Onboarding & Orientation: Own the new hire onboarding experience end-to-end, scheduling and facilitating orientation meetings, preparing paperwork, coordinating with L&D on training, and supporting benefits enrollment.
  • Benefits Administration: Support the administration of our benefits programs, health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies, and serve as a go-to resource for employee benefits questions year-round
  • Policy Development & Maintenance: Create, review, and standardize internal HR policies to ensure they're clear, current, and consistently applied.
  • HR Program Administration: Execute the operational tasks that keep our HR programs running: benefits, leave, and more, with accuracy, care, and the ability to manage your work independently
  • Additional responsibilities as the team and business evolve

What you'll bring:
  • Genuine curiosity and a growth mindset to your work, seek out new projects, take initiative, ask good questions, and see every new project as an opportunity to build your skills
  • Experience using AI tools or building automations in HR workflows preferred; if you haven't yet, you're actively curious about it and ready to dive in
  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent HR experience
  • Track record of supporting internal stakeholders with a high-service orientation; comfortable working across reporting, processes, and systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - you can look at a messy process or dataset and figure out what needs to happen next
  • Clear, effective written and verbal communication; able to explain policies and processes in plain language to employees at all levels
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with sharp attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with a degree of autonomy - you can own your work, manage your own time, and know when to loop in others
  • Workday experience preferred (or comparable HRIS); comfortable with data entry and reporting
  • Benefits administration background preferred, familiarity with health and welfare plans, open enrollment cycles, and communicating benefits to employees is a real plus
  • Personal alignment with the Suvoda values

Experience:
  • 2+ years of HR generalist experience; 3-5 years preferred
