Position Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of multiple transfer stations or material recovery facilities.

Your Role:

  • Ensures smoother operation of the facilities: ongoing construction, permitting, and operations.
  • Minimizes operational costs while maximizing productivity and maintaining safety and environmental compliance
  • Continually works to reduce turnaround time for trucks in and out of the site.
  • Accurately tracks waste volume and weight
  • Acts as liaison as necessary for community relationships.
  • Actively monitors ongoing permitting issues.
  • Complies with and ensures adherence to safety standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations
  • Meets all financial review dates and corporate-directed programs in a timely fashion.
  • Oversees personnel of the department, including selecting, coaching, and training employees, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Assist in the budget process as required.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property of the facilities through inspections and a preventative maintenance program with supervisors/employees.
  • Conducts, contributes, and/or attends periodic safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships with employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Provides training and presentation as needed in a position and professional manner.
  • Takes an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace.e
  • Update and submit revised reports promptly.
  • Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of full-time employees at multiple sites, including transfer stations or materials recovery facilities.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

Your Skills:

  • Knowledge of heavy equipment

  • Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Demonstrated computer skills: PC Scale, Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written) skills.

Requirements/Preferences:

  • High School diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in waste recycling or an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
  • Driver's license
