The Business Office Assistant supports the Business Office Coordinator and the daily operations of the business office by establishing and maintaining resident accounts, billing and collection of private pay accounts, and processing daily transactions such as petty cash and accounts receivable. This individual also processes physician and pharmacy billing, assesses the status of Medicaid applications, answers phones and prepares and maintains departmental correspondence and reports.
Responsibilities
Business Office Assistant:
  • Updates admission record with contact changes
  • Prepares cut letters
  • Manages resident personal funds - Facility banking
  • Support Business Office Manager with month end closing processes
  • Completes Insurance Verification for current residents
  • Filing and scanning
  • Replenishes resident cash box and petty cash box
  • Meets with residents/ families for short-term admission paperwork
  • Counts cash boxes weekly with Business Office Manager
  • Opens and sorts resident mail
  • Supports the Business Office Manager with special projects and overflow

Qualifications
Business Office Assistant has :
  • Compassion and respect for the aging population
  • Minimum of one year previous office experience required.
  • High school diploma with business training, including typing, bookkeeping, and Excel proficiency preferred
  • Working knowledge of Medicare A and B, Medicaid and third party insurance preferred.
  • Experience in a Long Term Care setting highly preferred.
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
