Job description

Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a talented professional to become our Applications Sales Engineer (Business Development Manager) who is accountable for identifying, developing and signing new business opportunities jointly with regional sales by leveraging technical expertise and Linde Food technologies portfolio.

Working with little supervision, receiving general guidance and direction from Director of Business Development, the position will have responsibility for growing industrial gases and equipment business through value-based technical and consultative sales in selected East Region states. The ideal candidate will be located within the following region: western North Carolina, eastern Tennessee, northern Georgia, or northern Alabama.

ย Assigned industry - Food and Beverage.

Compensation includes competitive base plus generous schedule commission. Position is allowed a company car.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Acquire new and grow existing customers in designated territory. Tasks include but not limited to prospecting, lead generation and qualification, market and customer strategy, business case development and analysis, proposal development and technology pricing recommendations, sales technical support, projects implementation and start up oversight. Efforts will result in profitable sales growth consistent with regional business objectives.

  • Consistently identify, research and analyze likely markets or niches, regional and local economic/project activity, competition, evolving industry needs, product application and business opportunities. Initiate, structure, and implement market initiatives, growth campaigns, and associated customer communications.

  • Monitor competitive activity in the territory and ensure that appropriate response strategies are formulated. Understand financial, user/customer, internal operations, competitive advantage and Praxair technology portfolio value and differentiators.

  • Establish and grow relationships with potential customers, industry consultants and vendors.

  • Know and cooperate with internal business partners including but not limited to sales, R&D, National BD, applications equipment, and customer service personnel. Utilize and leverage all available Linde resources to achieve goals. Participate with other business development personnel, key account and sales personnel in development of sales strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree

    • Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or other related engineering degrees are highly preferred

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in relevant technical sales

    • Technical sales as it relates to Linde Gases is experience with selling or explaining value proposition of processing equipment, chemicals, or other physical products (including industrial gases) that have an impact on the customer's process.

  • Ability to travel in the assigned territory up to 40% is required

  • Proven track record of acquiring and growing customer base, being resilient, and driving results.

Preferred Skills:

  • Technical sales to Food industry experience.

  • Familiarity with industrial gases applications in Food freezing and chilling processes

  • Technical/engineering savvy and value building skills

  • Well-developed commercial/business skills

Salary:

Pay commensurate with experience. Open to salary range $90,000 - $132,000.

Annual Incentive Potential Earnings: 50% to 100% of Base Salary.
