Job description

Primary Accountabilities:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business for BHS Construction. This position works closely with the Procurement Manager, executive team, and President to identify the right opportunities and build long-term relationships with the right prospects.
Major Duties:
  • Initiates and implements creative and innovative programs that drive new work to BHS from existing and new business sectors, especially for key stakeholders of businesses and design firms.
  • Maintain current relationships that lead to future projects.
  • Prepares complete, clear, and concise reports and other required BHS paperwork and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with the management team to develop the annual sales strategy/sales plan.
  • Manages the overall business development activities. Identifies and recommends new market areas to be pursued.
  • Develops and maintains regular records, information, and data related to correspondence, communication, and visitation programs related to existing companies.
  • Meets qualified prospects, develops trust and rapport, and sets the sales process in motion.
  • Manages sales opportunities and, when applicable, presents customer information to appropriate BHS personnel for estimating, designing, and project management.
  • Assists in the coordination of site visits from prospects.
  • Represent BHS Construction in external marketing efforts with site consultants.
  • Assures that customers' information is regularly updated and tracked.
  • Participates in and attends industry-related market associations, tradeshows, or municipality chamber events.
  • Provide support on any sales campaigns, special projects, programs, and or procedures as assigned.
  • Develop new and nurture existing Subcontractor / Supplier relationships
  • Watch bid boards (public/private) for opportunities
  • Conduct market analysis to know the competition

Required Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of experience in industry-related sales or business development for financing institutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a consistently positive attitude and outlook.
  • Ability to work additional hours to meet business demands. May work evenings and weekends to meet job assignment requirements.
  • Day travel is expected with this role - amount as needed to support the role
