Location: San Diego, CA (Onsite - No Telework)
Shift : 1st Shift (9/80A Schedule)
Please note : Active DoD Secret Clearance Required (Day 1)
This is a fully onsite position with no travel requirement.
Job Summary
We are hiring a Digital Design Engineer to support advanced defense and communication systems in San Diego, CA. This role focuses on FPGA-based digital circuit card design and software-defined radio (SDR) applications in a collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, integrate, and test digital circuit card assemblies
  • Support FPGA System-on-Chip (SoC) hardware development
  • Work closely with Systems, Hardware, and Integration & Test teams
  • Analyze system requirements, timing, and performance constraints
  • Define PCB stack-up, routing, layout, and thermal design specifications
  • Perform board-level debugging using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Conduct design reviews and documentation updates

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field
  • 5+ years of digital hardware design experience (3+ years with Master's degree)
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (Required at start)
  • Experience with FPGA-based digital circuit card development
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens Xpedition (EDA tool)
  • Strong understanding of engineering development lifecycle processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of professional engineering experience
  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx RFSoC platforms
  • Analog/RF and digital design/test experience
  • Experience with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, Ethernet)
  • PCB design, component selection, and supply chain collaboration
  • Worst-case digital signal analysis
  • Experience with DoD communications systems
