Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Senior Technical Business Analyst (Web/Mobile) at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for serving as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, gathering, documenting, and effectively communicating user requirements for large and complex projects, across multiple product lines and digital applications. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone interested in serving as a functional proxy product owner, for mobile and web software features, aligning requirements to business and user needs.
Essential Functions
  • Partner with enterprise stakeholders to determine strategic channels roadmap
  • Actively encourage team collaboration/professionalism with Garmin associates to achieve goals
  • Actively implement continuous improvement on an enterprise level for business processes and Engineering business analysis processes
  • Manage reconciliation and drive consensus regarding business tactical and strategic direction
  • Make substantial contributions to determining feasibility of team or functional goals/objectives
  • Demonstrate broad understanding of Garmin's business model including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales & Marketing
  • Mentor less-experienced Engineering Business Analysts (Engineering Business Analyst 1 & 2)
  • Exemplify Garmin's Mission Statement and Quality Policy and proactively work to improve Garmin's image and culture
  • Manage development/documentation of requirements from multiple global Garmin product managers using use cases, scenarios, complex and conflicting business workflow analyses
  • Identify interdependencies between projects and overall business strategies in alignment of Garmin's benefit
  • Collaborate directly with local and remote development team members and business clients
  • Collaborate with QA team to define test cases and assist with testing efforts
  • Manage acceptance testing by end users to ensure appropriate standards are met and successful deployment validation is completed
  • Work with language services and country business units to ensure correct translations
  • Lead requirement discovery sessions with product owners and cross-functional teams to gather, analyze and document business requirements for mobile and web applications
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for supported applications and software features, providing in-depth product knowledge of business functionality, process flows, and user expectations to project stakeholders
  • Investigate and stay informed about current industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products to provide innovative solutions
  • Manage development/documentation of requirements from multiple global Garmin product managers using use cases, scenarios, complex and perhaps conflicting business workflow analyses
  • Identify interdependencies between projects and overall business strategies and facilitate aligning them to benefit Garmin
  • Collaborate directly with co-located and remote development team members and business clients
  • Work with mobile app and web development teams along with API team to implement features and products
  • Work closely with UX design team to create the best customer experience
  • Collaborate with privacy and legal team stakeholders to ensure user data is properly protected and processed according to business standards
  • Proactively explore applications, business processes, and software features to identify overlapping requirements, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Adapt communication style to effectively engage diverse groups of stakeholders, tailoring approaches to fit the stakeholder's preferences
  • Deliver predictable and routine communication to project stakeholders and team members to foster transparency and trust across business
  • Provide training/mentorship to fellow Business Analysts on updated processes, tools, and requirements to ensure consistency and alignment across all projects
  • Analyze data and reports from multiple sources to guide product owners to make informed decisions based on user behavior and feedback

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrates knowledge of business analysis principles and methodologies and apply/adapt them into business requirements
  • Demonstrate facilitation and leadership in the execution of product/concept development plans
  • Proven track record in successfully executing projects of any scale or complexity
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of production and operations issues as they relate to engineering project management, including the ability to successfully identify and mitigate risks
  • Must demonstrate superior analytical skills including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a cross-functional setting with business partners
  • Participates in continuing business analysis education courses
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of competency
  • Experience and/or training of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Knowledge of human factors in UX design for mobile- and/or web-related applications
  • Proven experience as a business analyst for mobile- and/or web-related projects
  • Experience leading discovery sessions to gather requirements from product stakeholders and translating business needs into development-ready acceptance criteria
  • Demonstrates an ability to strategically align detailed project deliverables with organizational goals and objectives
  • Effectively manages and adapts to competing priorities, delivering timely solutions, which meet stakeholder expectations
