Bus & Fab Assembly

Warren, Ohio

Company Overview:

Ajax Tocco Magnethermic (ATM), a subsidiary of ParkOhio, traces its roots back to the 1800s and has a rich history of excellence in induction heating and melting solutions. The present company was formed in 1959 when the Magnethermic Corporation acquired the assets of Ajax Electrothermic Corp. combining their expertise and capabilities.

Position Summary:

The Bus Assembly Technician is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and preparation of copper bus systems used in induction heating equipment. This role requires hands-on experience working with copper materials, including soldering, brazing, bending, drilling, and punching operations. The technician will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality assemblies that meet engineering specifications, production schedules, and company standards.

Job Duties:

- Fabricate and assemble copper bus components according to engineering drawings and specifications

- Perform brazing and soldering of copper materials to create strong, leak-free, and conductive joints

- Bend copper tubing and bus bar using appropriate tools, fixtures, and methods to meet dimensional requirements

- Drill and punch holes in copper materials with precision and accuracy

- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure proper build execution

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area in alignment with housekeeping standards

- Inspect completed work for quality, fit, and function prior to moving to the next operation

- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and team members to resolve issues and improve processes

- Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of heated materials and tools

- Accurately charge time to jobs to support production tracking and utilization goals

- Support continuous improvement, lean manufacturing initiatives, and standardization efforts across the department.

- Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in clean, safe, and organized condition.

What you need to be successful:

- Experience working with copper fabrication or bus assembly

- Proven experience in:

    1. Soldering copper
    2. Brazing copper
    3. Bending copper tubing and/or bus bar
    4. Drilling and punching copper materials

- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints

- Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in an OEM or industrial manufacturing environment

- Familiarity with induction heating equipment or electrical bus systems

- Experience using press brakes, tube benders, or custom forming tools

- Basic understanding of electrical conductivity and joint integrity requirements

- Experience in OEM or custom industrial equipment manufacturing environment.
