Overview

At the YMCA we are on a relentless quest to make our communities stronger through people like you working at the Pueblo YMCA. The Bus Driver/After Care Assistant teacher will help support the day-to-day operations of the after-school program including transportation on daily routes, activities, arts and crafts, games, educational programs, and homework.
This job announcement is not intended to be inclusive of all functions, responsibilities and qualifications associated with the position, however, representative of the essential job functions and typical criteria considered necessary to successfully perform the position.
Responsibilities
  • Transport children on daily routes and weekly field trips.
  • Always promotes safety by keeping first aid supplies on bus fully stocked.
  • Ensures the bus rules are announced and followed.
  • Complete thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and records all information, such as gas level, mileage, and maintenance designated forms.
  • Cleans out bus each day.
  • Helps with the daily operations of the afterschool.
  • Assists with activities such as homework, games, arts and crafts, and educational programs.
  • Enforces all YMCA childcare rules and regulations and ensures safety.
  • Greets new arrivals and introduces them to others.
  • Reports camper complaints to leadership and helps to resolve the complaints.
  • Supervises and interacts with children.
  • Assists in organization of age-appropriate activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Qualifications
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess appropriate class license.
  • Safe driving record. A current MVR will be required.
  • Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Must pass reference checks and background screenings, which include fingerprint check.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
