What will you do as a Building Services Attendant?
As part of the Operations team, the Building Services Attendant is responsible for keeping the facility in clean and orderly condition for staff and visitors. This includes: general housekeeping of offices, restrooms, common areas, warehouse areas, and light grounds maintenance. This position also performs a number of heavy cleaning duties and may be called upon to assist in other operational areas of the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Service, clean and supply restrooms.
  • Service clean and supply breakrooms.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and vacuuming.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs.
  • Notify manager when supplies or equipment are needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
  • Steam clean or shampoo carpets.
  • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines and equipment.
  • General maintenance as required (change light bulbs, door adjustments, etc)
  • Provide general operational support in other areas as directed by manager.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Some previous general work experience preferred.
  • Prior custodial experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Work involves walking, talking and hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus when using computer terminals.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb ladders.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately noisy due to manufacturing and/or warehousing equipment in operation.
  • Working hours are from 12 pm to 8:30 pm depending upon schedules and the season, Monday through Friday with a half-hour lunch break, and 40 hours per week. Additional hours may be required occasionally.
